Carried out at one of the largest public research universities in Germany, this Summer School will enable you to explore the development and academic discussion of energy systems, energy transition and sustainability in Germany. Academics

With the rise of global challenges like climate change, dwindling resources, and a surging need for energy, the call to shift towards smarter and more sustainable energy systems has never been more crucial. Traditional energy sources, known for their environmental impact and limited availability, are slowly giving way to innovative solutions that prioritize efficiency, smart technology, and environmental responsibility. At the heart of the already ongoing energy transition is the rapid development of new technologies, systems and concepts, as it is performed by scientists and industry experts in the Ruhr area – a region that has successfully mastered the structural change from a former coal mining area to one of the densest education and research landscapes in Germany.

This course will enable you to gain insight into a variety of topics related to energy management as well as smart energy systems and the advanced technologies needed to implement them.

Each day combines theoretical insights and practical wisdom shared by field experts in the mornings, followed by engaging afternoons filled with interactive activities and real-world case studies. What is included in the fee?

 

Course fee: (790€)

  • All theoretical insights, interactive sessions and excursions on week days
  • Germany Transportation ticket (Deutschland Ticket)
  • Two Social evenings
  • Certificate of Completion from the Ruhr University Bochum (RUB)
  • 3 EC

** please note that EC credits are take home to be determined by the home university.

Housing + Catering fee: (690€)

  • Hostel/ Hotel Room ( 2, 3, or 4- bed rooms) for a total 13 nights. (Arrival on the Sunday before the start of the sessions until the Saturday after the program)
  • Two meals a day from Monday thru Friday (Breakfast + Lunch)

Simply take care of your flight, insurance, and visa arrangements, and leave the rest to us for a hassle-free and immersive learning journey.

 

Social Activities + Exploration:

  • Two evenings of social activities including a BBQ and a traditional German meal are included
  • Evenings and weekends are free for exploration around the Ruhr area or further into Germany
  • Tips and guides for exploration options will be provided

 

Registration Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Proficient in the English Language
  • Currently in your Bachelor´s, Masters´s, in between or recently graduated

Early-bird Discount: Register by May 1st to receive a 100€ discount on your course fee
